Laura Belle Yenne was born in Martin County, Indiana, September 16, 1871.

At the age of 14 years she moved with her parents to Western Nebraska. Several years of her early life were spent in pioneer school teaching .In November 1893 she was married to H.D. Alford. To this union three children were born, Gayland, Clyde and Mildred, all passing away in early infancy.

She lived at Grant, Nebraska, until the year 1919, when she moved to Whiting, where she has since resided.

She united with the Congregational church while she was yet a girl, and was an active member of the church until she passed away. She was also an active member of the Ladies Aid society, and the L.L. club.

She united with the Rebekah lodge at Grant, Nebraska.

She was passed from this life to the life with Christ on Sunday afternoon, April 21, 1929 at 3:30 p.m.

She leaves to mourn her loss two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Pearl Hopkins, Whiting, Mrs. Ida Palmerton, Leeds; Frank Yenne of Grant, Nebraska; also a foster brother, Niel Yenne of Sanborn, Ind. and a foster daughter, Mrs. Ed Ranken of Talmadge, Bebraska.

Mrs. Alfred was a women of splendid Christian character loved and respected by all who knew her.

We will remember her home life so womanly and kind. Her Christian life so quiet, but expressive. Her suffering so painful and protracted and yet borne so patiently.

Death came to this good women not as a foe, but gently, softly, kindly to lull her to sleep. A sleep that began in weariness and pain and ended in strength. A sleep that brought her sweet repose and Heavenly rest.

Funeral services were held in the Brown funeral home in Onawa, conducted by the Rev. G.H. Croker of Whiting.

Comfort was rendered in song by Miss Jana Whiting and Miss Kate Jennewein, with Miss Miner at the piano. Interment will be in Grant, Nebraska, cemetery. She will lie in the silent repose of death by the side of her little ones.
