Milo E. Olson, son of Oluf and Gunda Olson, was born July 27, 1896 in Soldier, Iowa and died February 21, 1968, at Sioux City, Iowa having reached the age of 71 years, 6 months and 24 days.

He lived on a farm near Soldier with his parents until his marriage to Emma Specht on February 16, 1919 at Charter Oak. After his marriage they moved to a farm near Dow City until 1944 when they moved to a farm near Mapleton. In 1959 Milo and his wife retired from farming and moved into the town of Mapleton, where he resided for the remainder of his life.

Milo was baptized into Christianity and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith in the Lutheran Church in Soldier. He was a member of the United Church of Christ Evangelical and Reformed in Mapleton, and the American Legion, Loren Hollister Post No. 496 of Mapleton.

Survivors are his wife, Emma and one son, LaVerne of Fort Collins, Colorado; two grandsons and four brothers, Oscar of Charter Oak, Raymond of Dow City, Oluf of Deloit and Glen of Council Bluffs; four sisters, Mrs. Mike Elias of Seattle, Washington, Mrs. Leonard Mather of Norfork, Nebraska, Mrs. Noah Thompson of Onawa and Mrs. Jess Baldwin of Woodland, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one brother and one sister.

Services were held Saturday, February 24, 1968 at the United Church of Christ of Mapleton with Rev. Walter Stark officiating. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Walter Funeral Home of Mapleton. Graveside Military Rites were by the American Legion, Loren Hollister Post 496. Pallbearers were; Leonard Jr. Mather, Delbert Olson, Dewaine Olson, Robert Olson, Veron Sharp and Glen Thompson.
