Hilman Olson Dies of Heart Attack

Soldier relatives and friends were saddened upon learning of the death of Hilman Olson of Livermore, California last week end. Word came early Saturday morning that he had passed away Friday night, October 31 at about 10:00 o’clock after suffering a severe heart attack about 6:00 that evening. He was working at the hospital at his job, he had held almost ever since the Olsons moved to California seven or eight years ago. He had suffered a previous heart attack a couple of years back while working at the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Olson had visited in Soldier a few weeks ago.

Hilman had lived in the Soldier vicinity most of his life, farming for many years and before going west had operated the Soldier Lockers.

Hilman V. Olson of 904 Via Montalvo, Livermore, California, passed away in Valley Memorial Hospital, Livermore, as the result of a heart attack on Friday, October 31. He was hospitalized for only six hours. He was sixty-five years of age.

Mr. Olson was a native of Soldier, Iowa, a son of the late Haakan and Mary Olson. He lived at Soldier until 1961 when he moved to Livermore. For the last eight years he has worked as a stationary engineer at Valley Memorial Hospital.

He was a member of Elk Lodge No. 586 A.T. & A.M. of Moorhead and also a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Livermore.

Survivors include his wife, Viola, of Livermore; three children, Joyce (Mrs. Clarion Nelsen) Karen (Mrs. David Huff) and Harlan Olson all of Livermore; eight grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Herman Hanson of Livermore and one brother, Olius Olson of Mapleton, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov 3 at 1:30 in Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Livermore. Burial was in Memory Gardens, IOOF Memorial Park Livermore.
