Otto Anderson, Resident of Castana for 31 Years, Died Dec 26

Otto Anderson, son of Johanna and Andrew Olson was born in Sweden Jan. 20, 1868 living there until the age of 14 when the family migrated to the United States in the year 1882 settling in the vicinity of Mead, Nebraska. Here Mr. Anderson grew to man-hood and received his education, being confirmed in the Alma Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mead on May 17, 1885. He later moved to Omaha where he was united in marriage to Helen Marie Olson in the year 1895. They resided in Omaha until 1906. In 1912 they located in Castana where they have since resided. He was employed by the Chicago and North Western Railroad until January 1939 when he was placed on the retirement list. He passed away suddenly December 26, 1943 having reached the age of 75 years, 11 months and 6 days.

Surviving him are his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Robinson of Beloit, Wisconsin; Mrs. Elmer Riley of Rolfe, Iowa; Cecil Anderson of Los Angeles California; two sons, A.E. Anderson of Alvod, Iowa; R.E. Anderson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; one sister, Hilda Sunneson of Washington, D.C; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Anderson has been a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Castana for the past 28 years and members of this organization serving as pallbearers are: Occar Leff, Albin Carlson, Charles Holden, Fred Anderson, Robert Summerville and Andrew Anderson. Rev. Elmer Otte of Mapleton officiated.

Burial was made in the Kennebec Cemetery under the direction of the Myers Funeral Home.
