25 July 1940Last Rites for Mrs. Hedvig Anderson Held Wednesday
Hedvig Maurits was born December 26, 1864 in Smaland, Sweden. She grew to women-hood there and in 1888 followed her three brothers to the United States, settling first in Illinois and later coming to Onawa.
On April 20, 1893 at Whiting, she was united in marriage to Otto Anderson. Four children were born into the home.
They first lived on a farm near Onawa and in 1986 purchased the farm which became their permanent home.
In Sweden she was reared in the Lutheran faith, but on December 10, 1908, she was baptized and became a member of the Whiting Christian Church.
Her husband preceded her in death, having passed away on May 19, 1939. She leaves to mourn her death her two sons, Edgar and Harold, two daughters, Anna Dickson of Polson, Montana and Alice Letterly, four grandchildren and one sister in Sweden.
She patiently suffered poor health the last three years, becoming seriously ill last Friday, and passed away at home on July 22, being seventy-five years of age.
Funeral service were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 24 at the Christian Church with Rev. Miller officiating. Burial in Whiting Cemetery.
