1 August 1974Nora C. Lown, a longtime resident of Castana, Iowa, passed away at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa on July 21, 1974 after being in failing health for several months. She was born at Platville, Illinois, a daughter of Phillip and Sarah Clayton Naden, and had reached the age of 89 years, 9 months and 20 days. She was a member of the Castana Community Church.
She moved with her parents as a child to Blencoe, Iowa and lived in that area until her marriage to Frank Lown on September 1, 1915 at Onawa when the couple came to Castana to make their home. Mr. Lown preceded her in death on May 20, 1940.
Survivors include her two sons, Frank of Estherville, Iowa and Wendall of Castana, Iowa, and a sister, Mrs. G.B. (Mildred) Cridlebaugh of East Peoria, Illinois. There are 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, one brother and three sisters.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 1974 at the Community Church at Castana, Iowa with the Rev. Homer F. Perry officiating. Mrs. Russell Davis was the organist.
Bearers were Howard Robbins, Hartley Robbins, Clarence Bond, Fred Kisling, Darrell Cooper and Edward Dodge.
Interment was in the Kennebec Cemetery at Castana, Iowa.
