Eldon Elston Terry, 83, of Onawa, Iowa, died Monday, April 6, 1998 at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa.

Mr. Terry was born May 20, 1914, at River Sioux, Iowa, the son of Marion and Ellen (Spry) Terry. In 1931 he graduated from Little Sioux High School. On June 10, 1932, he married Golda Blunt at Missouri Valley, Iowa. He farmed until 1942, was an aircraft mechanic in Omaha, Nebraska, from 1942 through 1945, was an auto mechanic in several towns from 1945 through 1952 and then worked in building maintenance at Elmwood Care Centre and Burgess Memorial Hospital from 1972 through 1986.

He was baptized and confirmed in 1931 at the Christian Church in Little Sioux, Iowa, and was presently a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa. He was presently a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa. He was a past member of Odds Fellows Lodge in Little Sioux.

Survivors include his wife, Golda of Onawa; a son and his wife, Larry and Judy Terry of Jonesboro, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Frank, Cindy Harper, David, Michael and Steven; five great-grandchildren, Jason, Miah, Like, Zach, and Jenny; and one sister, Myra Jacobson of Omaha, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dwight; and a brother, Millard.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 1998, at the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa, with Pastor Donald R. Ludwick officiating. The organist was Mrs. Vince Phillips and the soloist, Mrs. Fred Gibson, sang the selection, “Amazing Grace”.

Casket bearers were Frank Terry, Jason Terry, Luke Terry, Zach Terry, Michael Terry and Steven Terry.

Interment was in the Soldier Valley Cemetery, Pisgah, Iowa with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
