Ella E. Boyer, the eldest of thirteen children, was born to Ann (Torgerson) and Evar Benson on November 22, 1904 in Soldier, Iowa. She spent much of her childhood on a farm near Moorhead, Iowa. In 1944 she moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa and worked in a munitions factory in Omaha during WWII loading explosives in bombs.

She married Charles Boyer November 5, 1944 and made her home in Council Bluffs until 1987. After her husband’s death on February 28, 1959 she was a resident servant for Dr. and Mrs. Margules of Council Bluffs. Following a heart attack she retired to Regal Towers, a retirement community. She was an active member of First Christian Church for many years until she moved to Colorado Springs, Co near her brother Avis Benson. She first lived in Bethesda Care Center in assisted living later moving to Winfield House at Stratton Home south of Colorado Springs in 1992 where she has resided until her death.

She is survived by two sisters, Irene Fischer of Green Bay, Wisconsin and Anna Marie Hill of Omaha, Nebraska; one brother, Avis Benson of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Charles Boyer, five brothers, Lloyd, Ivan, Clark, Roy and Ivan Benson; three sisters, Bertha Cox, Esther Richison and Thelma Cooper. Ivan Benson recently passed away on October 8, 2000 at Anchorage, Alaska. Ella is aunt to more than 50 nieces and nephews and over 70 great nieces and nephews.

Ella Emilia (Benson) Boyer passed away January 3, 2001 at the age of 96 years in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Funeral services are pending at Cutler Funeral Home in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
