10 February 2010ONAWA, Iowa -- Lyle E. Collison, 84, of Onawa passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 15, at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, with the Rev. Don Collison officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Whiting City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Lyle Edward Collison was born Aug. 29, 1925, in Whiting. the son of Charles and Louise (Christianson) Collison. He was raised in the Albaton, Iowa area, where he attended country school and Sloan (Iowa) Public High School.
Lyle and Verla "Tootie" Butcher was united in marriage on Aug. 21, 1948, at First Christian Church in Onawa. The couple made their home in Onawa, where he was a lineman and later maintenance foreman for Monona County R.E.C. for a duration of 41 years. After his retirement, he was employed at Stangel Pharmacy.
Survivors include his wife, Verla "Tootie" of Onawa; two daughters, Lee Ann and her husband, Ken Levy of Onawa and Dee Ann Butler of Gilbert, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Bradey, Neily, Emily, Taylor and Denae; four great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, John and Mary Collison of Albaton and Charles Jr. and Rachael Collison of California; three sisters, Jean and her husband, George Hunter of Albaton, Elaine Koeppen of South Sioux City and Darlene and her husband, Bill Krumwiede of Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandniece, Danielle Withee.
