Mildred L. Strunk, 78, lifelong resident of Onawa, Iowa, passed away February 22, 1981 at the Elmwood Nursing Home in Onawa.

She was born August 16, 1902, at Onawa, Iowa to Richard and Edith Spaulding Cole. On August 25, 1928 she was united in marriage with George Strunk. He passed away January 25, 1981. She was employed at the Onawa Hospital and Burgess Memorial Hospital and was a member of the United Methodist Church at Onawa.

Survivors include 2 daughters Mrs. John (Gladys) Hansen, Onawa, and Mrs. Keith (Joyce) Hall, Whiting, Iowa; 1 sister, Mrs. Charles (Margaret) Porter, St Mary’s, Kansas, 1 daughter-in-law, Mrs. Bertha Marchel, Lafayette, Indiana; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, 6 brothers, 4 sisters, and 1 son, Lyle Marchel.

Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 1981, at the United Methodist Church at Onawa with Rev. Herbert Foxworthy officiating. The organist, Mrs. Robert Oehler, played the selections “There’s Something About That Name” and “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”.

Bearers were Danny Hall, Ricky Hall, Roger Saxen, Phil Niles, Bill Johnson and Ross Johnson, Jr.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa.
