3 October 1918H.B. Strunk Dies In Indiana
Funeral Services Monday Afternoon From Methodist ChurchHerschel Burnard Strunk was born in Montgomery, Mich. May 17, 1882 and died in Lafayette, Ind., Friday, September the 27th, 1918 at 1:00 p.m.. He was stricken with pneumonia and was only sick seven days.
Mr. Strunk was well known in this community and his friends were numbered by his acquaintances. His parents moved to Onawa in 1896 and resided here for several years. He grew to manhood in this city and was married in Onawa to Miss Jennie Persinger in 1903. To this home were born three children; George, Helen and Winnie. His father and mother both passed over to the “Great Divide”. Two brothers are living—Ben of Detroit, Mich. and Carlton, who is in the Navy in New York City. At the time of his death he was night superintendent of a ammunition factory making supplies for Uncle Sam.
It will be remembered by many that the deceased was at one time City Electrician of Onawa. His father built the Methodist Church in Onawa and his son Herschel, assisted in placing the material in this building as it stands today.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church, Monday afternoon at two o’clock conducted by Rev. C. S. Kleckner, pastor of the Onawa Christian church, and interment was made in the Onawa Cemetery.
