14 June 2001Franklin W. Rash, age 83 of Hamburg, Iowa, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln on June 3, 2001.
He was born on November 18, 1917, at Sioux City, Iowa; the son of John William and Margaret Ann (Ross) Rash. He was united in marriage to June D. Brown on July 9, 1936 at Rockport, Missouri.
He was the longtime owner/operator of the Rash Funeral Home in Hamburg, Iowa along with his wife June. They came to Hamburg in 1944 and retired from the funeral home in1977. Franklin was a member of the Masonic A.F. & A.M. Blue Lodge, Omaha Consistory, Tangier Shrine and Nebraska City Eagles Aerie #958. While in business, he was a member of the Iowa Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Director Association. He was a member of the Hamburg Kiwanis Club for some 55 years and was involved in numerous community activities during his years in Hamburg.
He is survived by three sons; Franklin W. Rash, Jr. of Beatrice, Nebraska, John L Rash and wife, Linda of Rockport, Mo. and Richard R Rash and wife, Diane of Elmwood, Neb; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June on April 12, 2001; his parent; and a daughter-in-law, Janis Rash.
Funeral Services were held Friday, June 8, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Hamburg, Iowa. Graveside interment and Masonic Services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 8 at the Onawa Cemetery in Onawa, Iowa.
Memorials may be given to the Shrine Hospital or the donor’s favorite charity.
Visitation with the family was from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 7 at the funeral home.
Rash-Gude Funeral Home, Hamburg was in charge of the arrangements.
