Grover G. Mackey, 89, Onawa, Iowa passed away October 23, 1981, at Burgess Memorial Hospital, Onawa, Iowa.

He was born July 25, 1892, to Charles and Eliza McClaren Mackey at Kellerton, Iowa. On December 27, 1916, he was united in marriage with Ola Mildred Duffield at Creston, Iowa. She preceded him in death November 29, 1950. They farmed near Kellerton until moving to Whiting in 1930. They came to Onawa in 1941. After retiring from farming, he worked as a carpenter and for Berry Lumber Company in Onawa..

He was a member of the First Christian Church and the I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 380 in Onawa.

Survivors include three sons; Howard, Salt Lake City, Utah; Hollis, Onawa and Robert Millbrae, California; four daughters, Mrs. Doris Cockerton, Mrs. Roscoe (Dorothy) Dutton and Mrs. Ralph (Alberta) Maher, all of Onawa; and Mrs. Frank (Roberta) Funkhouser, Conrad, California; one brother, Clyde, Lamoni, Iowa; one sister, Grace Hart, Carter Lake, Iowa; 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 26, 1981, at the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa, with Rev. Jerry Quandt officiating. The organist, Mrs. John Johnston, played “Amazing Grace” and “In The Garden”.

Casket bearers were Wilbur Phipps, John Hardison, Robert Hardison, Steve Maher, Owen Mackey and Terry Dutton.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
