Corriene Riddle, formerly of this area, passed away Monday, June 2, 1986, at Creswell Care Center, Creswell, Oregon, at the age of 95. She lived with her daughter, Estelene, Kent, Washington, and with her son, C.J. Cottage Grove, Oregon, before becoming a resident at Creswell Care Center two years ago.

Corriene was born at Emogene, Iowa, on April 8, 1891, to John Aaron Nation and Margaret Jane (Franks) Nation. As a child she lived at Red Oak, Ticonic, and Castana, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Samuel Riddle February 24, 1909, at Onawa, Iowa. The couple resided near Ute, and Rodney, Iowa, near White Lake, South Dakota and Buckley, Washington, before moving to Orting, Washington, in 1938. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at the Crocker Grange Hall, Orting, Washington, in 1959. Samuel passed away January 19, 1969.

Others preceding her in death were her parents, five brothers, Lee, James, Clifford, Frank and Ward; one sister, Mrs. Will (Minnie) Phillips.

Those surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Harry B. (Drewie) Jones of Lodi, California; Mrs. Joseph (Estelene) Lapinski, Kent, Washington; and a son and his wife, Corolous John and Alice Riddle of Cottage Grove, Oregon; two brothers, John of Black Hawk, South Dakota; Leonard of Council Bluffs, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Skogman, Salem, South Dakota; Mrs. Walter (ZeEtta) Blaseg, Wessington, South Dakota; Mrs. Tom (Dora) Bennett, Hearne, Texas; ten grandchildren, thirty six great-grandchildren, and nineteen great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held Friday, June 6th, at Smith Lund Funeral Parlor in Cottage Grove, Oregon. Pastor Henry Wong officiating, and at United Methodist Church in Orting, Washington, Monday June 9th, with Rev. Carl Beal officiating. Interment was in Orting Cemetery beside her husband, Samuel.
