24 February 2000Esther Christina Bertrand, 86, formerly of Sioux City, Iowa, died Tuesday, February 15, 2000 at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa, Iowa.
Mrs. Bertrand was born November 25, 1913 at Dixon, Nebraska, the daughter of John C. and Anna (Larsen) Hansen. She graduated from Elk Point, South Dakota High School.
She was married to Capel Bertrand at Elk Point, SD. They made their home in Sioux City where she was a bookkeeper for 12 years with A1 Vans. He died at Blackfoot, ID in 1993. She lived in Portland, OR and Idaho for 15 years.
She was of the Lutheran faith and loved flowers.
Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Bertrand of Sioux City; two sons, Boyd and his wife Beverly of Chandler, AZ. and Doug of Seattle, WA; a sister, Elsie Wright; and two brothers, Pete and Glenn Hansen, all of Portland, OR; four grandchildren, Ryan and Erin Bertrand, Tina Kaufmann and Jeremy Park; and four great grandchildren, Amber and Addison Park, and Kimberly and Alex Kaufmann.
She was preceded in death by her husband and eight brothers and sisters.
No funeral service was held.
Arrangements were under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa.
