29 February 2000Onawa, Iowa—Marie Myers, 88, of Whiting, Iowa formerly of Onawa, died Monday, February 28, 2000, at Pleasant View Care Centre in Whiting.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church in Onawa with the Rev. Donald R. Ludwick officiating. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetery, Holly Springs, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Pearson Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Onawa.
Mrs. Myers was born February 7, 1912, in Sloan, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer Everett and Francis Carrie (Beebe) Linscott. She graduated from Sloan High School.
She married Charles Howard Myers on October 12, 1938, in Elk Point, South Dakota. The couple farmed in the Sloan and Whiting area before moving to Onawa in 1947. He died March 13, 1985, in Onawa.
She was employed as a waitress at a restaurant in Whiting. She entered Pleasant View Care Centre a year ago.
She was affiliated with First Christian Church and was a member of American Legion David McNeill Auxilliary and Neighborhood Birth-day club. She enjoyed gardening and flowers.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Vernon and Colleen of Onawa; a daughter and her husband, Maridel and Ed Berens of Dunlap, Iowa; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Wayne and Betty Linscott of Lovejoy, Idaho; three sisters, Lucille Sumner of Whiting, Ruie McKain of Shawnee Mission, Kansas and Irma and her husband, Milo Hunter, of Sloan; and two sisters-in-law, Anna Myers of Whiting and Elaine Linscott of Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Nathan, Merrill, Calvary and Cecil; a sister, Ruby Bray; and a granddaughter, Beth Fegenbush.
