22 February 2000Moorhead, Iowa—Harold Shaffer, 80, of Moorhead died Sunday, February 20, 2000 at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at Moorhead Christian Church, with the Rev. John Eilers officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa.
Mr. Shaffer was born January 18, 1920 in Turin, Iowa, the son of Ted and Tracy (Mallum) Shaffer. He was raised in the Turin area.
He married Bernice Christensen on October5 22, 1938, in Onawa.
He was employed as a farm hand and carpenter.
He was a member of Moorhead Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Bonnie and Glen Holst of Moville, Iowa; two sons, Dick and his friend, Sandy, Sioux City and Dean and his wife, Debbie, of Bellwood, Nebraska; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford and Dean.
