Mapleton, Iowa--- Dewey Edward Jochims, 44, of Mapleton died Monday, February 14, 2000 at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, of a heart attack.
Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Scott Fiege, at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mr. Jochims was born March 3, 1955, in Denison. He was a lifelong resident of Mapleton, where he graduated from Maple Valley High School in 1973.

He owned and operated the Hawkeye Bar in Mapleton for 20 years. He also was employed in road construction.

He was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton.

Survivors include his mother. Pearl E. Jochims of Mapleton; a brother and his wife, Randy A and Cindy of Mapleton; five sisters, Beverly K. McDermott of Charter Oak, Iowa, Bonnie and her husband, Frank Crilly of Danbury, Iowa, Belinda and her husband, Dave Bartles of Charter Oak, Birdie Jochims of Mapleton and Niece Jochims of Tampa, Florida.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Barb Gosch.
