Raymond N. Olson

Raymond N. Olson, 73, Onawa, Iowa, died Thursday, January 21, 1988, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa after a long illness.

He was born October 31, 1914, in Whiting, Iowa, to James Newell and Effie (Gunsolly) Olson. On December 8, 1935, he married Clara E. Foss in Ponca, Nebraska, the couple moved to Onawa in 1936. During World War II, he served his country in the U.S. Navy. He owned and operated the Chevrolet-Oldsmobile dealership in Onawa for 25 years, retiring in 1974.

He was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, Vesper Lodge #223 AF & AM, and David McNeill American Legion Post #129, all of Onawa, and Sioux City Consistory and Abu Bekr Shrine Temple.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Cathleen Claussen of Dubuque and Patricia Dent of Humeston; his father, J.M. Olson of Whiting; two sisters, Doris Bogenrief of Hinton and Evelyn Hall of Sloan; one brother, Donald K. of Sioux City and 6 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother.
Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 1988, at the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa, with Rev. Jerry Quandt officiating.

Casket bearers were Lyle Lambert, Don Reed, Leonard Miller, Leonard Joy, Jerry Shaffer and David Delashmutt.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
