Mrs. Olius Olson, 76, Mapleton, died September 13 at Burgess Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. September 15 in St. Peters United Church of Christ. The Rev. Homer Perry officiated. Burial was in Soldier Valley Cemetery near Soldier under the direction of the Walter Funeral Home of Mapleton.

Mrs. Olson, the former Anna Rude was born March 16, 1900, near Moorhead, Iowa. She lived all her life in Monona County and taught rural country school in Soldier Township for many years.

She was married December 24, 1920 at Moorhead. She and her husband farmed in the Soldier and Mapleton area. They retired in 1956 and moved to Mapleton. She was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ and taught Sunday school for 29 years. She also belonged to the Women’s fellowship.

She was treasurer of the Mapleton Heights Auxiliary.

Survivors include her widower, three daughters, Mrs. Wilbur (Marva) Holtorf of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Jack (Marilyn) Argotsinger of Nevada, Iowa and Mrs. Richard (Maribelle) Betteron of Cedar Falls, Iowa; two sons, Vernon of Mapleton and Russell of Omaha; 15 grandchildren; a brother, Andrew of Hinton; four sisters, Mrs. Esther Childs of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Mrs. Mable Bryceson of Moorhead; Mrs. John (Mildred) Humes and Mrs. Vernon (Harriette) Watson, both of Macomb, Illinois.
