Lucille Black, 70, a resident of Blencoe, Iowa passed away at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa after a brief illness on May 18, 1975.

Born at Le Mars, Iowa on September 19, 1904, she was the daughter of William Hime and Bertha Marley Hime. She came to the Blencoe-Onawa area as an infant with her family and had lived in the area her entire lifetime. She was married to Homer Black at Onawa on January 4, 1922. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, Homer, of Blencoe; three daughters, Mrs. Edward (Darlene) Ferris, of Blair, Nebraska, Mrs. Leland (Betty) Hileman of San Jose, California and Mrs. Ralph (Donna) Wickersham Jr. of Turin, Iowa; five sons, Robert and Richard, both of Onawa, Donald of Blencoe, Gene of Auburn, Washington and Edward of Cupertino, California; twenty-one grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by six sisters, Mrs. Harold (Luea) Sorenson of Onawa, Mrs. Paul (Violet) Vitto of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mrs. Fred (Mary) Broken of Brook, Nebraska, Mrs. Hedrick (Frances) Clay of California, Mo., Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) Stevenson of Washington, Iowa and Mrs. Bruce (Evelyn) Purchase of Sioux City, Iowa; and by four brothers, William Hime of Onawa, Maurice Hime of Des Moines, Iowa, George Hime of Fort Collins, Colorado and Miles Hime of Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 1975 at the U.C.C. Congregational Church of Onawa, Iowa with Rev. William Bessmer, officiating. The organist was Mrs. Dennis McCarty. The soloist, Darlaine Jensen, sang “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere”. And “In The Garden”.

Bearers were Jerry Jirovsky, Robert Comfort, Tim Comfort, Fred Bryan, Walter Bedford and Stanley Jirovsky. Interment was in the Graceland Cemetery at Blencoe, Iowa with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa.
