Emma Marie Trafton, 93, of Hinton died Sunday, September 23, 1984 in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Mrs. Trafton was the former Emma M. Lange and she was born January 17, 1891 in Danvers, Illinois. She married William Trafton and he died May of 1935 in Le Mars. She moved to California in 1935 and she worked as an LPN in Sacramento. She lived there for 45 years, returning to South Sioux City in 1980. She later moved to Hinton to make her home with her daughter. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in South Sioux City.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Cleland (Elsie) Stinger of South Sioux City and Mrs. Harry (Lucille) Pedersen of Hinton; two step-daughters Mrs. Edna Gleason and Mrs. Mamie Kratz, both of Onawa; two brothers, Frank and Sam; one sister, Mrs. Lucille Jastorff, nine grandchildren; several step grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, several step great-grandchildren; several step great-great-grandchildren; several great-great-great grandchildren.

Services were held September 25, 1984 in the Hope Lutheran Church, South Sioux City with Paster John C. Brogarrd and Rev. Jerome Hahn officiating. Gary Bach sang “Abide With Me” and “Peace In The Valley” accompanied by Beverly Pojar, organist. Bearers were Dale Albers, Jerry Albers, Dwaine Stinger, Bill Anderson, Donald Johanson and Lyle Johanson.
Interment was held in Belvidere Cemetery, Turin, Iowa.

Those attending the services from this area were Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Albers, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Rutledge, Mrs. Edna Gleason, Mrs. Mamie Kratz of Moorhead.
