17 October 2000Turin, Iowa—Lorne A. Schnell, 67, of Bourbonnais, Illinois, died suddenly Thursday, October 12, 2000 in Las Vegas.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Belvidere Cemetery, Turin. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Onawa, Iowa.
Mr. Schnell was born January 3, 1933 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Albert and Maude (McBride) Schnell.
He married Joanne Kline of Turin. He was employed as an executive with Centeon-Aventis Behring from 1984 until retiring in 1994.
He was a member of Ashbury United Methodist Church in Kankakee, Illinois. He served on the board of directors and was a former member of Kankakee County Symphony. He was a founding member of the Kankakee Valley Youth Orchestra and served as sergeant at arms with Kankakee Rotary Club. He also worked as a consultant at Kankakee County Training Center and a volunteer tutor for English as a Second Language. He was an accomplished violinist and enjoyed restoring violins, golfing and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, David and Gina of Alexandria, Va. And Michael and Lisa of Temecula, California; two daughters, Jennifer and her husband, David Dearborn of Manchester, N.H. and Julia Schnell and her special friend, Michael Chellino of Kankakee, Illinois and two grandsons, Jakob Dearborn and Eric Schnell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Florence Schnell.
