Robert Olson, 83, Onawa, Iowa died Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.

Robert was born November 1, 1919 at Sloan, Iowa the son of George E. and Mary (Johnson) Olson. He was raised in the Sloan area and graduated from Sloan High School. He married Bernadine Bertrand September 7, 1950 in Sloan, Iowa. For the better part of their married life, they made their home in Los Angeles, CA.

Bob was employed by Brotman Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA in hospital maintenance until his retirement when the couple moved to Manteca, CA. Bernadine passed away December 10, 1995 at their home in Manteca.

He moved to Onawa from California in 2000 and has been a resident of Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting since October, 2002.

He loved to golf, play pool and bowl.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Mark and Pamme of Nashville, TN; a step son and his wife, Tom and Tommie Neal of Wildomar, CA; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews including Shirlee and her husband Bob Cass of Onawa who have attended faithfully to his needs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, Harry and Elliot Olson and five sisters, Grace Swanson, Carrie Solien, Alice Thompson, Mabel Jacobson and June Hughey.

Memorial services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2003 at Skein Lutheran Church, Albaton, Iowa with Rev. Barb Spaulding officiating. Organ solos “How Great Thou Art” and “To God Be The Glory” were played by Bev Roarson. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Albaton. Arrangements were under the direction of Rush Family Care Service.
