2 January 1989Mapleton, Iowa—Clara K. Thiel, 84, of Omaha, formerly of Mapleton, died Sunday, January 1, 1988 in a hospital in Omaha.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mapleton, with the Rev. John Brennan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at Crosby-Kunold Funeral Home in Omaha. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. Tuesday until service time in the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.
Mrs. Thiel, the former Clara K. Lange, was born Aug. 31, 1904, in Wolbach, Neb. She married Joseph Thiel April 2, 1929, in Wood River, Nebr. They lived and farmed near Greeley, Neb., and moved to a farm near Mapleton in 1944. He died in January 1965. She had lived in Omaha the last 15 years.
Mrs. Thiel was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Omaha and a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mapleton.
Survivors include six sons, Thomas of Renton, Wash, Lawrence of Ankeny, Jerry, John “Fritz” and Ron “Butch” all of Omaha and Harold of Glendale, Ariz.; six daughters, Mrs. Richard (Joan) Smith, Mrs. Robert (Arlene) Johnson, Mrs. Gerald (Katherine) Wessling, Mrs. Richard (Marcy) Kleber, and Mrs. Douglas (Jean) Dahl, all of Omaha and Mrs. Charles (Ina) Feller of Chester, N.J.; two brothers, Carl Lange and Henry Lange, both of Wolbach, a sister, Mrs. Hilda Christensen of Omaha; 45 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Donald and Robert; her parents, a sister and three brothers.
