Mapleton, Iowa—Mrs. John Theobold, 84, Mapleton, died Nov. 25 at a nursing home in Mapleton of a long illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 28 in St Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. Walter Bruch will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Nov. 28 in the Walter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Theobold, the former Mary Elizabeth Hupke, was born Sept. 23, 1891, at Schaller. Her family moved to a farm near Danbury when she was 12 years old.

Mrs. Theobold was married Jan. 10, 1916, at Danbury. The couple farmed in the Mapleton vicinity, retired in 1952 and moved to Mapleton. Mr. Theobold died in 1960.

Mrs. Theobold was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the church Guild. She was a past president of the guild.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Rosina) Hoesing and Mrs. Robert (Theresa) Sperry, both of Mapleton, and Mrs. Frances (Rita) Zerwas of Manning; four sons, Lester and Donald, both of Mapleton, Ralph of Chicago Heights, Ill. and Harlan of Ute; a brother, Joe of Mapleton; three sisters, Mrs. Lena Kleine, Mrs. Loretta Uhl and Mrs. Bertha Sweitzer, all of Ontario, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
