Hildegard Anna Uhl, age 78, of Mapleton died Sunday March 4, 1990, at her residence of an apparent heart attack.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mapleton with the Rev. John Brennan officiating. The Lay Distributor was Bob Brummer and the mass servers were Tom Uhl., Alan Stewart, Brett Kafton and Mark Sadler. Burial was in St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery. The rosary was recited at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday by St Mary’s Guild with a scripture prayer service at 7:30 p.m. in the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Uhl was born August 6, 1911 at Danbury, the daughter of Bernard and Elizabeth (Wessling) Klein. She grew up in Danbury and lived most her life in Mapleton. She married Loyde Uhl February 21, 1938 at Danbury. The couple retired from farming in 1975. He died April 5, 1981.

Mrs. Uhl was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Guild.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce; four sisters and one brother.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Joann Uhl of Mapleton and Dale and Ann Uhl of Hornick; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and LeRoy Gray of Storm Lake; a brother, Albin Klein of Mapleton; a sister, Lonie Orter of Mapleton; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Pallbearers were Nephews, Leon Ortner, Arnold Ortner, Melvin Ortner, Vernal Weber, Jim Weber and Ray Weber.
