Genevieve M. “Jennie” Uhl, 84, of Mapleton died Sunday, December 24, 1989, in Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mapleton with the Rev. John Brennan officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation was after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday with the rosary recited by the Rosary Society at 3:00 p.m. and by the parish at 7:30 p.m. in Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Uhl, the former Genevieve Jensen, was born September 5, 1905 to Christian and Marie (Larson) Jensen in Mapleton and was a lifelong area resident. She married Theodore Uhl February 12, 1922, in Mapleton. The couple farmed in the Bronson area for three years prior to farming in the Mapleton area. Mr. Uhl died January 22, 1979. For the last three years, she had been a resident of Maple Heights Nursing Home.

Mrs. Uhl was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rosary Society and Sunshine Club.

Survivors include two sons, Darrell and his wife, Bonnie of Mapleton and Ted “Bood” and his wife Marge of Bellevue, Nebraska; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Norma) MIchaelson of Sioux City, Mrs. William (Betty) Cook of Montrose, Colorado and Mrs. Keith (Nancy) Myers of Jacksonville, Florida; seventeen grandchildren and several great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Lawrence Cook, Ed Uhl, Scott Castle, Dan Uhl, Mark Myers and Rick Nichols.
