Kari Lynn James, 30, Castana, Iowa, died Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Iowa City, Iowa.

Kari was born April 1, 1979 at Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Stephen and Barbara (Payne) James. She graduated from West Monona High School at Onawa in the class of 1997. Later she received a certified nurses assistant certificate at Western Iowa Tech Community College.

Kari was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Survivors include four sons, Taylor and Carter James of Castana, Patrick and Joseph; her mother and step-father, Barb and Troy Allen of Castana; her father Steve James of Liberal, KS. A grandfather Dean Payne of Castana; grandparents, Floyd and Patty Allen of Onawa; two brothers, Kevin and his wife Therese James of Sioux City, Iowa and Kelly James of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; two nieces, Kyra and Madison James; two nephews, Ethan and Gavin James and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by two grandmothers, Pat McDonald and Donna Payne; a grandfather, Kenny James and an uncle, Roger Payne.

Funeral services were 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Rush Family Chapel at Onawa, Iowa with visitation starting at 12:00. Music selections were “Let It Be”, “Crossroads” and “One Day At A Time”. Burial was in Kennebec Cemetery at Castana.

Casket bearers were Ron Bolyard, Clayton Kluver, Eric Miller, Jerry Payne, Kyle Payne and John Tarr.
