Darrell Daugherty, Jr., 73, Onawa, Iowa passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at the Veterans Medical Center at Omaha, Nebraska.

Darrell was born October 2, 1936 at Onawa, Iowa, the son of Darrell, Sr. and Juanita (Hutchinson) Daugherty. The family moved to Seward, Nebraska and returned to Onawa where Darrell graduated from Onawa High School in 1957. Darrell served in the United States Army. He had owned and operated Daugherty Construction and later Daugherty Asphalt. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and his pets.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Becky and Dave Jibben of Tea, SD; a son, Brad Daugherty of Phoenix, AZ; two grandchildren, Lindsey and Benjamin Jibben; two sisters, Joyce Schulz of Lincoln, NE and Vickie Liepman of Omaha; three brothers and their wives, Dan and Marybeth of Sioux City, IA, Larry and Cathy of Tekamah, NE and Roger and Pat of Kansas City, KS and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bobby.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2009 at First Christian Church at Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Todd Owen officiating. Music selections were organ solos, “How Great Thou Art” and “The Old Rugged Cross” provided by Ann Phillips. Burial was in Onawa Cemetery with Military honors conducted by the United States Army. Visitation was 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at Rush Family Care Service at Onawa.

Casket bearers were Vernon Myers, Brian Seward, Harold Shook, Brad Daugherty, Brian Daugherty and Daryl Tschantre.
