6 September 1979Peter G. Knoff was born August 11, 1890 in Sioux Township Moorhead, Iowa and passed from this life in the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa on August 26, 1979. Death came at the age of 89 years.
He was a life long resident of Monona County, having spent four years after his marriage at Moorhead and then at Castana, the past two years he has been a resident of Elmwood Home in Onawa. Peter worked for Julies T. Cutter for about thirty years.
On August 22, 1913 he was united in marriage with Harriett Payne in the Christian Church in Onawa. Early in life he was confirmed in the Bethesda Lutheran Church at Moorhead.
Survivors include his wife, Harriett in Elmwood Home in Onawa, one daughter, Mrs. Earl (Sharon) Carroll in Fontanell, Iowa; one son, Sterling (Bus) Knoff of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one daughter, John Knoff of Turin; three grandchildren, a number of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and four brothers.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 30 at the Pearson Funeral Chapel at Onawa with Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. The organist, Mrs. Paul Petersen accompanied Mrs. Harvey Hanson and Mrs. Brady Hanson who sang the selections “The Old Rugged Cross” and “How Great Thou Art”.
Active Bearers were Beecher Lamb, Howard Nielsen, Brady Hanson, Ronald Burke, Gary Thies and Louis Reed. Honorary Bearers were Herman Erlandson, Edward Doidge, ElvinHanson, Carl Moore, Everett Knoff and Paul Reed.
Interment was in the Kennebec Cemetery at Castana with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa.
