SLOAN, Iowa -- Virginia Signe Moberg, 88, of Sloan went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, May 20, 2009, in Whiting, Iowa, following a life of dedication and service to her God, her family and those entrusted to her care.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Evangelical Covenant Church in Sloan, with the Rev. Richard J. Moore officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Township Cemetery, Albaton, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Virginia was born in Braham, Minn., on June 29, 1920, to Eric and Emma Seaborg. She received her registered nursing degree from Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, Ill. in 1947. She served as a nurse her entire working life until she retired as director of nursing at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting in 1989.

In 1947, she married the Rev. D. Edward Moberg. They raised five children while serving the Evangelical Covenant Churches in Kingsdale, Minn., Sioux City, Odebolt, Iowa, Laramie, Wyo., Scranton, Kan., and Sloan.

She is survived by her children, Carl (Pam) Moberg of Aberdeen, S.D., Donald (Sandy) Moberg of Kearney, Neb., Elaine Roberts of Humble, Texas, Mark (Linda) Moberg of Redstone, Mont., and Gary (Denise) Moberg of Sloan; 13 grandchildren, Steven, Gina, Katie, Molly, Jamie, Candice, Brandon, Sandy, Eric, Kevin, Kristi, Liselle and Ethan; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doloris Goetz of Cambridge, Minn., and Doris Nelson of Minneapolis; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends from all the communities in which she lived and served.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents, Eric and Emma; brothers, Wendell, Paul and Vernon; a sister, Adeline; and a daughter-in-law, Clarice Moberg.
