MAPLETON, Iowa -- Louise E. Davis, 92, of Mapleton died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at Waverly Care Center in Lincoln, Neb.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton, with Monsignor Mark Duchaine officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with a vigil wake service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Louise Elizabeth Davis was born April 16, 1916, in Oto, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Flora (Schoening) Uhl. She grew up in Mapleton.

On Dec. 7, 1933, she married Leo Davis in Onawa, Iowa. The couple made their home in Denison, Iowa, later moving back to Mapleton. Leo died March 16, 1982. She was later a longtime companion to Cliff Reed of Mapleton. In 2001, she moved to Lincoln to be near her daughter. She worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Mapleton for nearly 30 years.

Survivors left to honor her memory include a daughter and her husband, Judy and Tom Schwartz of Lincoln; seven grandchildren, Lori Asmus, Tammy Hesse, Fred Hesse, Robert Davis and his wife, Vicky, Raymond Davis, Richard Davis and his wife, Kim and Randy Davis; several great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter, Haley Enevoldsen.

Along with her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert Davis; four brothers, Ariel "Bus" Uhl, Lauret Uhl, Donald Uhl and Rex Uhl; a grandson, Russell Davis; and a granddaughter, Pammy Hesse.
