Mrs. J.S. Vanderlinden Died 1964

The Whiting community has been saddened recently to hear of the death of Mrs. J.S. Vanderlinden, Perry, a former teacher in the Whiting school, Mrs. Vanderlinden had been ill for several months and her condition had been known to be critical for some time.

The funeral services were held Tuesday, February 11, at the First Methodist Church at Perry with interment there. Those attending from Whiting were Mr. and Mrs. Jewell Waugh, M. J. Whiting, Mrs. Phillip Derr, Mrs. Hattie Linden and Miss Ada Carter.

Mrs. Vanderlinden was a graduate of Upper Iowa University at Fayette, her home town and after receiving her B.A. and M.A. degrees at SUI, Iowa City, she taught English, Latin and French in Iowa schools for several years.

She was a member of the Methodist Church at Perry and O.E.S. as well as professional organizations. Mr. and Mrs. Vanderlinden came to Whiting in 1958 and retired from there to the former home in Perry in 1963. They had made many friends in the Whiting school and community, who extend their sympathy to the family at this time.

She is survived by her husband at Perry; a daughter, Karen of DesMoines; her mother, Mrs. Bertha Burget of Fayette: and a sister, Mrs. Chrystal Gills of Waterloe.
