Ernal M. Olson, 84, Whiting, Iowa, died December 14, 1986, at his residence in Whiting after a brief illness.

He was born October 9, 1902, at Albaton, Iowa to Inman and Mary (Lee) Olson. He moved to Onida, South Dakota, as a child and later attended high school at Armour, South Dakota. On October 25, 1924, he married Mildred Bromander at Elk Point, South Dakota. The couple made their home near Whiting. He was a painting contractor and
Professional trapper.

He was a member of Eagles Aerie No. 2270 of Onawa and the National Trappers Association.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred; two daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Barbara) Dahl of Sloan and Mrs. LaVern (Jackie) Deen of Carroll; one son. Keith Lavail of Whiting; one brother, Forrest Olson of Story, Ark.; one sister, Mrs. Mildred Rinck of Brandon, Fla; 9 grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother’

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 1966, at the Evangelical Covenant Church at Albaton with Rev. Russell Sizemore officiating. The pianist, Lillian Petersen, accompanied Mrs.. Virginia Moberg and Mrs. Herbert Peterson in the selection “Beyond The Sunset”.

Bearers were Bill Cole, Jason Dahl, John Wilen, Kevin Deen, Melvin Olson and Gerald Bromander.

Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery at Albaton with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
