Mrs. Alma M. Olson, a lifetime Sloan resident, was born in Sloan, Iowa November 21, 1885 and passed away at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa in June 2, 1976 reaching the age of 90 years 6 months and 10 days.

She was the daughter of Stephen J. and Andrea Oliver, early day resident of Sloan. Previous to her marriage she was employed by the Montross Drug Store. She was of the Methodist faith.

She was united in marriage to John S. Olson on June 24, 1909. To this union were born four sons. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1962 and also by three sons, Starl, Donald and Lyle.

Survivors include one son, Oliver L. “Dick” Olson of Sloan, One sister, Mrs. Stella Pope of Sloan, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild as well as nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 5 at the United Church of Christ Congregational in Sloan. Rev. Victor Engelman officiated. Mrs. Glen Miltenberger was the organist. Casket bearers were Dean Crawford, Cordon Copple, Elliott Olson, L.T. Watson, Robert Friss and Gary Hicks. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery at Albaton with arrangements by the Wood Funeral Home.
