Clifford Clinton Lee, 85, formerly of Sloan, Iowa died Friday, February 9, 2001 at Pleasant View Care Center at Whiting, Iowa.

Clifford was born March 4, 1915 at Cottonwood, Mn. the son of Henry and Cora (Olson) Lee. The family moved to Albaton when Clifford was about 4 years old. In 1919, they moved to his Grandfather’s farm (Martin Olson) in Albaton. This is where Clifford spent most of his childhood. He attended country school at Dahl School near Albaton and Sloan School.

He married Elsie Larson of Sloan, Iowa on March 11, 1938 at Trinity Lutheran Church at Onawa. The couple farmed in the Albaton community until retiring to Sloan in 1979, Elsie passed away December 31, 1992 at Whiting, Iowa. At the time Clifford moved to the Pleasant View Care Center at Whiting.

He was a lifelong member of Skein Lutheran Church, at Albaton, where, he was confirmed on his 13th birthday by Rev. Roseland. He was a dedicated member and served on the Council both as a Deacon and Trustee; he was Chairman of the Council for three years during the building of the new church; and especially enjoyed ushering for funerals for many years.

Clifford served on the Sloan Development Corporation for 25 years and was on the REC Board for almost 25 years, the Sloan Elevator Board for 9 years and the Monona County Fair Board for 15 years.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Richard and Shirley of Overland Park, KS; two daughters and their husbands, Sandra and Jim Roorda of LaMoore, CA. and Vay Jean and Monte Moser of Grand Island, NE; five grandchildren, Deloris Treseder, David Roorda, Mark and Greg Lee and Jamie Moser; eight great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Kermit and Lucille of Sloan, Iowa and two sisters, Opal Copple of Sloan and Myrtle Schmidt of Cushing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elsie; a grandson, Jeffrey Lee; three brothers, Merlin, Ardell and Dale, and a sister, Gladys Anderson.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2001 at Skien Lutheran Church at Albaton with Pastor Barb Spaulding officiating. Music selections were “It Is Well With My Soul” and “Amazing Grace” provided by Dan Lee, soloist and Bev Roarson organist, Burial was in Fairview Township Cemetery at Albaton. Burial was in Fairview Township Cemetery at Albaton. Visitation was from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the church with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Casket bearers were Greg Lee, Mark Lee, Kermit Lee, Larry Olson, Allan West, Jim Olson, Don Lander and Norman Westergaard.

Arrangements were under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa

A memorial or Clifford has been established with Burgess Hospice/Home Health Care.
