Leonard S. Olson, 80, resident of Hawthorn, Calif. Who had been spending his summers for the past 12 years at the Riverside Sportsman resort, passed away June 14, 1961, at Corning, California at 11:30 p.m. in the Corning Memorial Hospital, where he had been taken that morning.

A retired building contractor, he was born May 18, 1881, in the Albaton Community, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Olson. He was married at Moorhead, the birth place of his wife, the former Carolyn Chaffee on September 7, 1904. Mr. and Mrs. Olson observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary in Hawthorn, California in 1954. Early in manhood the barbered in Onawa with Louie Paine in the Monona Hotel, later barbering in Moorhead and then going to Sioux City where he made his home for many years before going to California in 1924.

Survivors are his wife, Caroline Olson of Corning and Hawthorn, California, a daughter, Mrs. Chester Sproule of Palm Springs, California, two brothers, Gus of Whiting and John of Sloan; two sisters, Mrs. Stella Allison of Hawthorn, California and Mrs. Ina Haakinson of St Paul, Minn., and two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 16th from the Hall Brothers Chapel with the Rev. Leonard Erdman of Red Bluff officiating. Interment followed in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Corning, California.
