Brother of Rodney resident died in Oregon

Raymond L. Ferdig, age 75, of Grants Pass, Oregon, died Sunday, February 11, 2001 at his home.

Graveside services were held at the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, California.

Mr. Ferdig was born July 13, 1925 in Mapleton, Iowa. He married his wife, Conchita on April 11, 1954 in Reno, Nevada. She preceded him in death on January 30, 1990. He served in the Army during WWII. He worked in aircraft at the Oakland Airport for several years and retired from Lockheed after 30 years with them. He also worked in his sister’s restaurant in Oakland. He moved to Rogue River in 1991 and came to Grant Pass in 1999.

He was an avid football fan and loved to watch all sports.

He is survived by his companion Vera Bathurst of Grants Pass, two daughters, Renee Rose of Grafton, Wisconsin and Fay Humphrey of Poulsbo, Washington; a sister, Jo Hewitt of Rodney, Iowa and a brother, Robert Ferdig of Overton, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Raymond Harry in 1959 and Ronald Edward in 1960, five sisters and two brothers.
