Freda Johanna Wacheldorf, daughter of Henrietta and Hans Fredrick Wacheldorf was born on September 4, 1902 near Ricketts, Iowa. She was the fourth oldest child in a family of ten children. She grew up living with her parents on a farm near Ricketts in Crawford County. She later moved with her family to a farm east of Mapleton and also lived in the Oto community before moving to Anthon in 1933. In 1957 she moved to a farm near Sioux City owned by her brother so that she could take over the housekeeping duties. She spent the remainder of her life residing on this farm. She was a member of the Lutheran Faith and was baptized on October 9, 1902 and confirmed on April 1, 1917. She died after an extended illness on July 30, 1965 at the Gordon Memorial Hospital in Sioux City. She was 62 years, 10 months and 26 days old. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Mabel) Pierce of Anthon; Mrs. Stanley (Regina) Bocian of Sioux City; three brothers, Emil of Mapleton; Louie and Bernard of Sioux City; sixteen nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister and three brothers.

Services were held Monday August 2, 1965 at the Walter Chapel in Mapleton, with Rev E.G. Otte officiating.

Pallbearers were Leonard Wacheldorf, Elmer Wacheldorf, Ronert Wacheldorf, Louis Pierce, Wayne Pierce, and Larry Pierce. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at Soldier Twp. under the direction of the Walter Funeral Service.
