BLENCOE, Iowa -- Mildred Louise Brown, 87, Blencoe, Iowa, died suddenly Saturday, July 9, at her sister's residence at Rapid City, S.D.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Blencoe United Church of Christ with the Rev. John Noer officiating. Burial will be in Ingeman Cemetery at rural Moorhead, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Mildred was born Aug. 11, 1917, at Moorhead, Iowa, one of eight children born to Arthur and Anna (Hanson) Jepson. She attended grade school at the Jepson School and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1934. She later received her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and taught three years in rural schools in Monona County.

She married Bruce Brown July 24, 1937, at Moorhead. Three daughters were born to this union: Bonnie, Barbara and Beverly. The couple lived in the Moorhead area and in 1954 moved to Blencoe. She worked at Hitchman Insurance Agency in Blencoe for 15 years. Bruce passed away Sept. 9, 1991.

Mildred was baptized in the Lutheran Faith at Ingeman Lutheran Church at Moorhead and in later years was a member of Blencoe United Church of Christ, where she served as trustee, deacon and Sunday School teacher. She belonged to several card clubs, literature clubs and book clubs.

Left to mourn her are three daughters and their husbands: Bonnie and Dan Matthaidess of Rochester, N.Y., Barbara and Bruce Coulter of Littleton, Colo., and Beverly and Bob Collison of Blencoe; a sister, Helen Hunt of Rapid City, S.D.; three sisters-in-law, Charlotte Wagner of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and May Jepson and Dorothy Jepson, both of Onawa; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Howard, Magnus and Allan Jepson; and three sisters, Rozella Wilmot, Lucille Johnson and Irene Jepson.

Memorials may be directed to the Ingeman Lutheran Church Preservation Society or the Onawa Public Library Capital Project.
