ONAWA, Iowa -- Donald L. White, 66, of Onawa died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at Onawa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, with the Rev. Dennis Olsen officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Donald was born Dec. 13, 1938, at Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Tony R. and Nellie (Maxwell) White. The family lived in various locations in the Midwest until they settled in Onawa.

He married Sharon Brooks on Nov. 24, 1956, at Sioux City. The couple made their home and raised their family of four children at Onawa. Donald was a lineman and later a foreman at Monona County REC for 40 years. He was a volunteer on the Onawa Fire Department for 15 years.

After his retirement, he joined a special coffee group daily in Onawa and faithfully attended even when not feeling well. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon of Onawa; two daughters and their husbands, Dawn and Russell King of Onawa, and Dee and Bob Hawthorne of Blacksburg, Va.; two sons, Doug and his wife, Robyn White of Ida Grove, Iowa, and Dennis White of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren plus anxiously awaiting three more due soon; a brother, Leonard White of Portland, Ore.; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Angela Ellis; and two brothers, Melvin White and Earl White.
