10 October 1918

Yesterday about 1:30 p.m. Mrs. Ann Tippens passed away at her home in Whiting. For almost a month she had been in a very low condition, paralysis causing her demiss.

Mrs. Tippens was born July 25, 1856. On May 16, 1874 she was married to Martin Luther Tippens. To this union were born eight children, and her death is keenly felt by her husband and seven children who survive her. The children who mourn her loss are George, Charles, Samuel, Nando and Daniel of Whiting; a daughter, Mary Hochstrasser of Bigelow, Minn. and Edward in France.

Mrs. Tippens has lived devoted Christian life from the earliest year, she has entered her reward. She knew Him in whom she believed. She has gone, but will not be forgotten, for her many motherly traits.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the M.E. Church conducted by Rev. W.H. Dunn and burial in the Whiting Cemetery.
