Bessie Elizabeth Thompson, daughter of Mary Coyle Mortensen was born near Onawa April 12, 1896 and departed from this life at the Willow Dale Nursing Home in Battle Creek, Iowa, where she had been a short time. After an illness about 2 years she ad previously been in a Sioux City hospital for a month. She had reached the age of 73 years, 11 months and 24 days.

During her girlhood she lived in the Kennebec and Oto areas and was baptized in the St Joseph's Catholic Church at Salix, Iowa on July 1896.

On July 24, 1918 she was united in marriage to Harold L. Thompson at Oto, Iowa. She had ived in the Ute area since her marriage. Mr. Thompson passed away April 11, 1966.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ute.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Rozella) Stark of Pendleton, Oregon; two sons, Warren and Francis, both of Ute, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Anna McGarr of Oto, Iowa and Mrs. Margaret Cox of Sioux City; 8 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother.

The Rosary was recited on Wednesday, April 8 at 8:00 p.m. at the Walter Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 9 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ute with Rev. Robert A Thiele officiating.

Burial was in the St. Clair Cemetery at Ute. Pallbearers were Paul Flynn, Lewis Sanders, Dillon Hunter, Cry Flynn,Roy Borcherdt and Clarence Riley.
