Mrs. William (Eunice) Young, 91, Salix, Iowa, died on Saturday, May 2, 1987, in Pleasant View Nursing Home at Whiting, Iowa.

Mrs. Young, the former Eunice Fait6h Eveleth, was born May 25, 1895, at Salix. Her parents were James and Lena (McDonald) Eveleth. She was the last member of an early pioneer family who settled in the Salix area in the 1870’s. She attended country school and graduated from the Salix Public High School in 1913.

She was married to J.B. “Jake” Egan and they lived at Omaha and Lincoln where she was employed with the U.S. Postal Service. She later married William Young December 12, 1922 in Council Bluffs. The couple made their home in the Salix area where they farmed. He died May 28, 1972, in Onawa. She had been a resident of Pleasant View at Whiting since April 1977.

She was a member of the Community Methodist Church of Salix.

Survivors include one son, Willard Eveleth Egan, of Hemet, Calif, one grandson Larry G Egan of Yucca Valley, Calif, three great grandchildren and four great- great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers, William, John, George, Earl and Robert Glen and one sister, Elizabeth Grimes.

Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 1987, at the Sloan Cemetery with Rev. Stanley Long officiating. Bearers were Wayne Parsley, Payne Sargisson, Louis Watson, Dick Whitney, Ray Georgeson and Edwin Eveleth.

Interment was in the Sloan Cemetery with arrangements by the Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.

Memorials in her name are acceptable to Pleasant View Nursing Home at Whiting, Iowa.
