BLENCOE, Iowa -- Earl David Perry, 83, formerly of Blencoe died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa, with Elder Donnie Bothwell officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Blencoe. There will be no visitation.

Earl was born June 28, 1918, in Stanton, Neb., the son of Harry and Irene (Perry) Nielsen. He was raised in Blencoe and graduated from Blencoe High School. He later served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Dona Crabb on July 3, 1942, in Temple, Texas. The couple farmed in the Blencoe community and also operated the C & P Market in Blencoe with Dona's parents for several years. Dona passed away Dec. 24, 1987, in Omaha.

He was a member of Blencoe Church of Christ and a charter member and former commander of American Legion Stevens Kelly Post 665.

Survivors include three sons, James E. of Houston, Texas, Lyle D. of St. Joseph, Mo., and Craig L. of Blencoe; three grandchildren, Ryan and Michael Perry and Cara Jeschke; a great-grandson, Kendrick; and a sister, Katy Howschultz of Blencoe.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Reagan Perry; his parents; two brothers, Kenneth Perry and Jack Nielsen; and a sister, Janyce Carritt.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Collison, Kenneth Perry, David Dietchy, Fran Tramp, Karmen Bjella and Joe Langenfeld.
