Ruth Myrtue-Larson was born November 29, 1922 in Tuckahoe, New York. She died Sept. 10, 2009, at Phoenix, Ariz. At the age of 86. Funeral services were held Friday September 18, 2009 at St John’s United Methodist Church in Mapleton, with the Pastor. Karen Garrison officiating. Message in the music was provided by Marie Whiteing, vocalist and organist. Songs include “In The Garden”, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Nearer My God To Thee”.

Pallbearers were Dean Myrtue, Charles Myrtue, Alaric Woodward, Thom Gencarelli and Leo Dose. Interment was at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa.

Ruth was the daughter of Henry F. Tiberg and Esther Ruth (Booker) Tiberg. Ruth graduated from grade school and high school in Mount Vernon, N.Y. Both Tuckahoe and Mount Vernon are about 30 miles north of New York City.Ruth then went to nursing school in White Plains, N.Y., where she graduated as a registered nurse. Ruth furthered her education by attending the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and the University of Connecticut in Bridgeport, obtaining her master's degree in nursing from Columbia University in New York City.

In the late 1960s, Ruth moved to Shiprock, N.M., to work as a public health nurse. She worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs on the Navajo Reservation. This is where she and Bob Myrtue first met.

Ruth and Bob married in Shiprock on June 26, 1970. After their retirement in 1980, they divided their time between Mapleton and Desert Shadows, Phoenix, Ariz. Bob died May 6, 2003.

On August 9, 2005, Ruth married Howard Larson, of Phoenix, in Las Vegas, Nev. Ruth was preceded in death by Howard, who died Sept. 1, 2009.

Those survivors left to cherish Ruth's memory include her three sisters, Betty and Ethel Tiberg of Falls Church, Va., and Norma Jean Gencarelli of Bellmore, N.Y.; nephew, Thom Gencarelli and his wife, Alison and their two children, of Hastings, N.Y.; niece, Lori Warren and her husband Keith and their two children, of Gresham, Ore.; niece, Susan Russo and her husband Frank and their daughter, of Bellmore, N.Y.; and her stepgrandson, Alaric Woodward and his wife, Vickie and their daughter, of Phoenix, Ariz.

Arrangements were under the direction of Armstrong Funeral Home.
