Petty Officer Ronald Joe Woodward, of Moffitt Field, San Jose, California, died on May 10, 1981 at a San Jose hospital of injuries he suffered in a one-car accident at Morgan Hill, California. At the time of death he was 27 years of age. He was formerly a resident of Sioux City, Iowa.

Petty Officer Woodward was born November 6, 1953 at Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of Joseph A Woodward and June Watson Woodward. He moved to Sioux City with his parents as a very young child. He attended Sioux City Schools and graduated from East High School. He had served in the United States Nanvy for the last 5 1/4 years.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Woodward of Sioux City, two brothers, Craig in the United States Marines in California and Corey at home; four sisters, Rhonda, Roxanne and Lana, all at home and Mrs. Dennis(Denise)Pyzel of Hawarden, Iowa; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Russell Woodward, of Castana, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles in 1976.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 15, 1981 at the Ticonic United Methodist Church, Ticonic, Iowa, with Rev. Louis Aitkin and Rev. Mark Smeltzer officiating. The organist was Sheila Blakely and the two vocalists were Mrs. Ronald Maynard and Darrell Larson.

Casket bearers were E.B. Woodward, Lyle Woodward, Jerry Woodward, Don Woodward, Bob Watson and Thomas Mack.

Interment was in the Grant Township Cemetery near Rodney, Iowa with arrangements by Willman Funeral Home, Rodney, Iowa.
