Millie Kalskett Sorensen, Onawa, Iowa, died at her residence in Onawa on Saturday, October 20, 1990. Death came at the age of 90 years 5 months and 25 days.

She was born April 25, 1900 at Ute, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Mary Louisa (Gilbertson) Kalskett. Millie grew up on a farm east of Moorhead. She graduated from Moorhead Public School and attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls and the University of Iowa at Iowa City. She taught school for a number of years at Whitney Hill School at Mapleton, the Melby School at Moorhead and Sofus Larson and the Brown School, both in Sioux Township.

She married , Soren Sorenson September 10, 1940 at Soldier Lutheran Church where she had been baptized and confirmed as a child.

After their marriage they moved to a farm west of Moorhead where they lived until 1972 when they sold their farm and moved to Onawa.

She was a member of the Soldier Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Soren; two sisters, Nel Kalskett of Onawa and Helen Byg of Denver; a sister-in-law, Florence Kalskett of Moorhead; a brother-in-law, Victor Sorensen of Onawa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her six sisters, Lena Thorson, Augusta McLachlan, Mary Ann Christensen, Clara Bochelman, Hazel Johnson and Mabel Olson and three brothers, Martin, Fred and Winston.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, 1990 at the Soldier Lutheran Church with Rev. Larry Sydow officiating. Mrs. Ivan Gibbs, organist, accompanied the congregation in singing “How Great Thou Art” and “Nearer My God To Thee”.

Bearers were Charles Hansen, Thorvald Peterson, Frederick Knudsen, Versel Knudsen, Roy Lauritsen and Thayer Brown, II.

Interment was in the Spring Valley Cemetery at Moorhead with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa, Iowa
