Soren P.L. Sorensen, 93, of Onawa, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 2, 1994, at the age of 93 years, 10 months and 16 days at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.

Mr. Sorensen, the son of Thomas “Mike” and Catherine (Christensen) Sorenson was born on April 16, 1900 in Sioux Township, west of Moorhead, Iowa.

Soren was baptized and confirmed at the Danish Lutheran Church, west of Moorhead and he is presently a member of the Soldier Lutheran Church. He was educated at the Mann School in Sioux Township.

On September 10, 1940, Soren was married to Millie Kalskett at the Soldier Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, Soren and Millie lived on the farm where Soren spent his working years farming and raising livestock with his father and brother. Soren and Millie will be remembered for their beautiful flower gardens which enhanced their farm home in the Loess Hills. In 1972 they sold the farm and moved to Onawa, Iowa where they lived until Millie’s death in 1990.

Soren remained in the home until October of 1991 when he moved to Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa and remained there until his death.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Millie; two sisters, Cora Larson and Marie Larson; and a brother, Victor Sorenson.

Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 4, 1994, at Soldier Lutheran Church, Soldier, Iowa with Rev Thomas R Hagen officiating. The organist was Mrs. Ivan Gibbs and the congregation sang, “How Great Thou Art” and “The Old Rugged Cross”.
Casket bearers were Frederick Knudsen, Ronald Johnson, Charles Kalskett, Charles Hanson, James Severson and John Moorhead.

Interment was in Spring Valley Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa
